You can donate many different vehicle types such as RV's, cars, boats, snowmobiles and other types of motor vehicles. The value of the tax write-off is $500 or the amount of the sale of the car by the charity.
Step 2

It doesn't matter if the vehicle can run or not. You should first contact either a charity you're already involved in, or go to the web and find a company that will collect the vehicle for your charity. Be sure to have the keys and the title of the car ready when it gets picked up.
Step 3

Make sure you follow up with the charity after you donate your car. When the charity sells your car they must send the proper paperwork to you that shows how much your car was sold for. You will need the paperwork that follows in order to account for the correct amount of your tax write-off.
