Make Your Living Room Summer Friendly
Make Your Living Room Summer Friendly

Think your living room is still to winterized to enjoy this summer? Well here is your opportunity to change that with a few simple changes to spruce up even the darkest of living spaces.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • curtains
  • fitted sheets
  • air conditioning
  • fan
  • flowers
  • garbage bags
  • chess set
  1. Step 1

Open the curtains. Take down the blinds and put up sheer cloth curtains that are either home made or store bought. It still allows for privacy while letting more of the natural sun and its heat into the room. Pick colors that are fun and summery like yellow and orange and green. Or use earthy colors that aren't too dark if they complement your personality.

  2. Step 2

Get a fitted sheet or other similar furniture accessory to cover your furniture. Use a bright color. You hide the darker colors but don't have to reupholster the whole couch to have a nicer living space.

  3. Step 3

Add flowers. Bring the nature inside by getting a flower pot or two of your favorite summertime flowers.

  4. Step 4

Air conditioning. Get some if you don't have any. Or a really big fan if you are really broke.

  5. Step 5

Cover your fans with plastic garbage bags after you put them away so that they don't collect dust all year around. Make sure to clean the fan at least once a month to avoid allergies and having dust sprayed around the room.

  6. Step 6

Use summer theme throws on your couches with scenes of flowers or nature. It adds a warm touch to the room.

  7. Step 7

Let some air in. Open the windows while you are home to let in the fresh air. Get a screen door for your front door so that you can enjoy the fresh air and keep out the flies and mosquitoes.

  8. Step 8

Have fun. Make a family event of changing up the living room. Do the shopping together and pick up some new board games or a new chess set so that you can use the living space for what it was meant for - more family time.
