Ice cream makers can make all kinds of yummy desserts, but most of them are very high in fat and in sugar and have little in them that is good for you. This orange sorbet is not only fat-free, it also gives you a fruit serving, and is actually more cooling than ice cream. And it's so simple to make. For a truly refreshing dessert, few things can beat Orange Sorbet!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ice cream maker, almost any size will do
  • Fresh squeezed orange juice or Simply Orange (see Tips)
  • Lemon juice
  • Sugar
  1. Step 1

Determine how much orange juice you will need and squeeze the right amount of orange juice if using freshly squeezed orange juice. For a 1.5 quart ice cream maker, you will need:
    3 cups of orange juice
    3 cups water
1 tablespoon lemon juice (more or less to taste)
1 cup sugar (more or less to taste)

Adjust the amounts based on the size ice cream maker you have and how much you want to make. Just remember that there's the same amount of orange juice as water.

  2. Step 2

Some machines require all ingredients to be very cold. If yours does, put the water and orange juice in the freezer until very cold but not frozen.

  3. Step 3

Put all ingredients in any order into your ice cream maker. Process in the machine.

  4. Step 4

Enjoy eating a little bit of sunshine!

Tips & Warnings
  • Simply Orange is a brand name for an especially fresh tasting orange juice. It can be found in most grocery stores. Any of the varieties will work.
