Step 1
Buy Local Produce – once your baby is on solids make sure to shop for local foods. A Farmer’s Market is a great place to find fresh produce. Many farmers are also starting to trend towards organic farming, so be on the lookout for organic produce at your local Farmer’s Market.
Grocery stores are also making efforts to buy from more local farmers – make sure you look for locally grown produce during your next grocery trip! You’re not only making sure your family is eating only the healthiest foods but you’re also helping your community. -
Step 2
Purchase and use Reusable Shopping Bags – this is an absolute must! For only about $1 each, you can buy a reusable shopping bag that you can use each and every time you visit a store. It is inevitable that once you have a baby you will be making at least twice the amount of shopping trips that you used to (I know I do!). This is something that everyone can do – just one small step that everyone can make that could have a big impact on our environment.
-
Step 3
Use All-Natural Baby Skin Care Products – your baby’s skin is extremely sensitive and you don’t want to use harsh skin care products that could dry it out or make it break out. There are quite a few choices for organic sunscreens and all-natural skin care products so make sure you do your research to find the right product for your baby. (Be on the lookout for a review of skin care products, coming soon!)

Step 4
Use Energy Saving Light bulbs – this is a no-brainer! Having a baby means being up more in the middle of the night and most likely using a nightlight which is using energy. Energy saving light bulbs not only use less energy (hence the name) but also save you money! This is a win-win!

Step 5
Buy Eco-Friendly and Organic Baby Toys – there are so many choices that you have when buying toys for your baby. Be sure to pay attention to those toys that are eco-friendly and organic. These are safe toys for your baby as well as being a safer choice for the environment.

Step 6
Dress your baby in Organic Baby Clothes – this is my favorite! There are so many adorable baby clothes out there and now there are tons of organic options. Organic baby clothes don’t have to be boring and style-less, they also don’t need to cost a fortune. Check out My Little Snuggle Bug (http://www.mylittlesnugglebug.com) a baby boutique that offers affordable, adorable organic baby clothes.
Organic baby clothes are safer for your baby because they are made from organic cotton – no pesticides or fertilizers. This means no harsh chemicals rubbing against your baby’s skin!
