How to make minor roof repairs.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Roof repair can be a difficult job depending on the degree of damage. Of course, repairing a roof is less costly than purchasing a new one. If you have only minor damage to the surface of your roof, this can be repaired quite easily. Make a list of the supplies and tools you will need to make the repair.

  2. Step 2

First, for minor holes or tares in the roof you can try using a black tar sealant, which can easily be purchased in Home Depot. In addition, for extra protection you can apply shingles over the section of the roof in which you repaired with black tar. Make sure you accurately measure the space to be repaired so you know how much material to purchase to make the repair.

  3. Step 3

Finally, when your work is complete, it is time to test your work. Using a hose to see if any water will leak through the roof into the house can easily do testing your work. Give the area a good spray with the hose for a good 10 minutes. Then you want to check the interior of the home to see if any of the water penetrated.
