Things You'll Need:
- friends and family
- maybe a car
-
Step 1
Check the internet and newspapers for free ideas. I live in Dallas, Texas and the internet is always full of fun free ideas. They could be festivals, free admission to art museums, free movies in town squares, frisbee golf, a hike or bike ride, or anything you are interested in. Just remember to keep it free.
-
Step 2
The next thing I usually do is look throughout the month for coupons for free items to eat. I found once at Albertson's a coupon that they tripled for pizza pockets, and the pizza pockets were on sale so when I went to buy them they were free. I walked across the street to the convience store and microwaved my 2 pizza pockets for a free lunch.
-
Step 3
If you can't find any coupons there are always samples given at my local Kroger's store, Costco, Sam's club, and maybe others that I haven't found yet. I have taken my whole family of 5 to Costco and walked around just eating the samples and left without buying one item. Free snacks for the kids after a round of free frisbee golf.
-
Step 4
There are also other promotions going on for free items all the time, such as free coffee if you go to IKEA before the store opens, free McDonald's McCafe drink on Monday's, or I have gotten free Chick-fil-A Sandwich coupons at a free parade with the family. Most festivals or parades with sponsors love to give free items away.
-
Step 5
Another free day you can be apart of is being part of a race. You sign up for a 5k or 10k months in advance and on race day you are rewarded with a nice morning run, and lots of free stuff from the sponsors after the race. I ran a 10k at a botanical garden and after the race I got a free bag of goodies and then there were around 20 boothes all with free food or coupons for free stuff. On top of all the freebee's I got free admission to the botanical gardens that I would have never paid the $12 admission to see. I got free breakfast, lunch, and dinner that day with botanical fun.

Step 6
Always look around for free stuff and make it a fun game to see how much you can do on a free day. It brings the entire family together in the planning and researching part before hand, and then you bond even more spending time together. You are teaching your children to have fun for less and being frugal. You are also giving them good cheap date ideas for when they get old enough for that. Have fun with each other is the best part of free day, and it's free.
