To create a baby crib blanket without a pattern, simply visit your fabric store and locate pre-printed blanket panels.

There are two types of panels, pre-printed and pre-printed, quilted.

The difference is the pre-printed patterns require you to sew on the batting, backing and trim. Those that are already quilted only need trim.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pre-printed baby quilt panel
  • High Loft Batting
  • Fabric for back
  • Thread
  • Fabric Tape Measure
  • Sewing Machine
  • Blanket Trim
  • Optional: Yarn or Ribbon
  1. Step 1

Select your fabric panel and trim.

If your panel is NOT pre-quilted, select backing fabric and batting.

If you choose a pre-quilted panel skip to step 6.

  2. Step 2

Trim backing fabric and batting to size.

  3. Step 3

Baste batting between panel and back panel with right sides of fabric facing out.

  4. Step 4

    Machine quilt.

As an alternative to quilting, using a fabric tape measure, create a grid on the quilt marking intersections safety pins. Using the coordinating yarn or ribbon, loop a 2" piece of yarn or ribbon through the blanket, knotting securely on the front. If tying bows with the ribbon, use a longer piece and knot the ribbon well before tying the bow.

  5. Step 5

Trim edges of batting, panel and backing so they are even.

  6. Step 6

Pin trim in place, mitering the corners. Machine stitch near the edge, being careful to sew through both sides of the trim.
