Need to clean your house in a jiffy? Use these quick tips to clean your house in ten minutes.

Now every once in awhile, one's home can get cluttered and then you get that call that your mother is coming over in fifteen minutes - what to do? Well don't panic - instead, get your place quickly cleaned or at the very least, looking much better in ten quick minutes...

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a house/home that needs to be cleaned quickly
  • scented candle
  • fabric freshener
  • duster
  • paper towels
  • general all purpose cleaner
  1. Step 1

Assess your home first of all in one minute - which parts of your home will your mother (or the unexpected visitor) might possibly be seeing - probably the bathroom, the kitchen, the living room and the hallway/entrance way.

These steps are for a quick fix that can be done anytime and will help your place at the very least look more organized promptly and smell better quickly.

  2. Step 2

Second, light scented candle and place them in the living room area or in the room or place you think your unexpected visitor(s) will be spending the most time in. Next grab your fabric freshener - and spray your sofa, your curtains, and in the general front door area.

Then go to the sofas and chairs - simply by arranging the pillows nicely and fluffing them up, folding quilts, and throws properly will make things look better instantly. Put chairs in their proper place under their perspective tables.

Collect all magazines, and simply put in one neat pile aside. Grab all those silly TV gadgets like those remotes, and gather them all together and place them by the TV.

Pick up anything off the floor such as clothes, towels and place into the hamper.

  3. Step 3

Next look to the floor - are there shoes placed everywhere? Even collecting the shoes and putting them up against a wall in neat order near your doorway will make them look more organized if they can't get to the closet in time.

Take any mail strewn about and at the very least, simply gather from the various places and put into a basket for future sorting.

If you have any fresh vegetables and or fruit - grab a bowl and place them into the bowl and onto the counter for an instant fresh look.

  4. Step 4

Next go to all your table tops and counters - and quickly organize anything - put away things that don't belong, like the basket ball on the living room floor into your son's room.

Next quickly sweep your kitchen floor - leave the vacuuming for another day.

Off to the bathroom - simply rehanging the towels straight, removing water from the sink and having fresh hand towels will make it look immensely better immediately.

Open the windows if it is nice outside to allow some fresh air to enter your home. Turn on your lights, a well lit home looks more friendly and inviting.

  5. Step 5

Take a deep breath, the doorbell is about to ring - and hey, don't sweat the small stuff - it's only your home - but by straightening those few areas, you will be more at ease as your unexpected visitor arrives to pay you a short visit.

Lastly, close any of those doors off to your visitors such as your son's unimaginable bedroom which has seen better days and help direct your guests to the most cleaned area for relaxing and having some fresh iced tea.

Tips & Warnings
  • In a jam with dirty dishes? - simply place into dishwasher. Place pots and pans in a cold oven to be dealt with at a later time when the guests leave.
  • By paying attention to the table tops, and to the areas your guest will be in will help you concentrate on organizing those rooms first without you going into full panic-mode..
  • Run Forest, run! You got fifteen minutes before they arrive and need only ten minutes to get your home cleaned and organized quickly!
