I love my iPhone as I'm sure you do! Before I got it, I had no idea what I was missing. Now I use it for SO many things and have found a few shortcuts for doing things that I do often. Read on for some great iPhone tips.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Tip #1 - I'm not sure why Apple decided to put the period ( . ) on a different screen from the letters, but they did. So, when you end a sentence, you have to tap the .?123 button, then the period, then the ABC button, right? Actually, it's much easier than that! Just hit the space bar twice. The iPhone will put a period and a space at the end of your sentence AND turn on Shift to be ready to capitalize the next letter you type. Smart. :)

  2. Step 2

Tip #2 - This is the best one - you will be SO glad you found this! OK, so what if the punctuation mark you want is not the period, but a comma ( , )or a question mark (?) or a curly bracket ( } )? Then you are back to a three step process to get it. I know, right? Ahhh, but the iPhone designers were smarter than that... they supplied us with a workaround. Here's how you do it: instead of tapping the .?123 button, tap and hold it. The punctuation keyboard will appear. Slide your finger to the punctuation mark you want, THEN lift your finger. Eh, voila! You have your ( ? ) AND you are back on the ABC keyboard - ONE tap/slide instead of THREE taps!

  3. Step 3

Tip #3 - So, what about contractions - words like I've, he'd, and can't? Well, you could use tap/slide, BUT there's an even easier way! Just leave out the apostrophe ( ' ). The iPhone will know what you meant and substitute the correct word WITH the apostrophe once you hit the space bar to go on. It takes a little practice to get used to leaving them out!

  4. Step 4

And last, but not least, an easy way to get to your Favorites list to make a phone call is just to press the Home button twice. The Home button is the round button that you use to wake up your iPhone. Quick and easy!
