Things You'll Need:
- Cars
- Drivers
- Video Cameras (charged with blank tapes)
- Instructions/rules
- A prize for the winning team
-
Step 1
Set a date and time for the hunt. Try and plan your hunt on a day and time when there will be a lot of people out in the community. This will make it more exciting. Set an ending time as well. You will need to have a cut off time when all teams must meet back at a central location.
-
Step 2
Find drivers and video cameras. Consider how many people will be going on the hunt, and find enough drivers with reliable transportation to accommodate them. Make sure there is a seatbelt available for each participant.
-
Step 3
Plan the hunt! Make a list of at least 25 activities for the teams to choose from and film. Start with very simple activities and build up to more difficult ones. These can be activities for one or all team members to complete. You can even involve people on the street. Try and include local landmarks to make your hunt more personal. You can find tons of creative ideas for your list at:

Step 4
Assign point values to each item, with the easiest having the lowest point values and the most difficult having the highest values. Type your list and add any other "rules" of your hunt to the document.
-
Step 5
The Day of the hunt! Gather everyone in your group and divide them into teams (one team for each car). Give each team one video camera. Go over the rules and list of items to be filmed. Make the return time very clear. (It's fun to dock points for teams that show up late!) Usually 1-2 hours is a good amount of time to be out on the hunt. Give them 5 minutes to strategise and them let them loose!
-
Step 6
After all teams return, show the videos on a big screen and serve food and drinks. Have a few impartial "judges" watch the videos carefully and assign points to each team for every item they shot footage of. At the end of the night, announce the team with the most points and present them with a prize.
