By reading this guide you can effectively avoid annoying your flight attendants on your next trip. Happy Flight Attendants equal Happy Passengers!

Things You'll Need:

  • Plane Ticket
  • A Place to Go
  • Knowledge of your surroundings
  1. Step 1

Always remember to prepare for your trip. If you're traveling from coast to coast do not rely on the airline to have enough food for everyone, bring your own just to be safe. Also, if you have a special dietary please remember that the airline may not have food or beverages that fit your diet. Always remember: If they run out food in the cabin, its not the flight attendants fault.

  2. Step 2

When asked for your trash by the flight attendants, hand it over! Not only do you not want to sit there with your trash in front of you for hours, the flight attendants don't want it at your seat either. When the plane lands most likely the flight attendants have to re-cross your seat belts, making the cabin look tidy, as well as cleaning out seat back pockets.

  3. Step 3

If you've missed the flight attendants in the aisle and they're within arms reach, don't touch them! That's what the "call button" is for. You'd be surprised how many times a day flight attendants are pushed, poked or grabbed.

  4. Step 4

It's also best to keep in mind that you are one out of over 100 passengers. Most domestic US airplanes hold about 150 passengers and each plane has a cabin crew of 3. That's 50 passengers per flight attendant. Remember that it may take time for them to attend to your needs. It's not uncommon that more than one person needs something at the same time.

  5. Step 5

If you're traveling with small children, double check your boarding passes after check-in at the airport and before boarding the airplane to make sure you're all seated together. Once you get on the airplane its almost impossible to change seats without inconveniencing other passengers.

  6. Step 6

If you're seated in the emergency exit seats you will be asked to agree that you're willing and able to open the exit windows. You will also be asked for a verbal response, in English, that you are willing and able. It's not funny when you say "si" or nod your head. The person who sat there before you, did the same thing. Technically, your response is grounds to move you out of the emergency exit row.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wait about 5 minutes after pressing the call button before pressing it again.
  • Sitting in the back, near the galley, might help your needs to be answered more quickly.
