The internet makes it easy to search and find cheap apartments for rent online.
You can find for cheap apartments based on area, price and apartment
features and amenities right at your computer. One benefit of searching for
cheap apartments online is that some apartment communities even display photos
and virtual tours of their models and floor plans, making it easier for you to get a preview of the apartment before you actually visit the apartment complex.

  1. Step 1

    FIND A FREE CHEAP APARTMENT SEARCH ONLINE:
    There are a few apartment search websites that you can use online to find cheap apartments. Go to Google and do a search for the following: “Apartment Finder” or “Cheap Apartments for Rent”. You can also check websites such as:
    * Apartments.com (http://www.apartments.com)
    * Rent.com (http://www.rent.com)
    * Apartment Guide (http://www.ApartmentGuide.com)

  2. Step 2

    ENTER CHEAP APARTMENT SEARCH CRITERIA:
    Select all the features you are looking for in an apartment and choose
    the price range for your monthly rent payments. Click the submit button to bring up a list of apartments that have the feature that you want and in your price range.

  3. Step 3

    SEARCH THROUGH APARTMENT LISTINGS:
    Now that a list of apartments have been displayed, check out any photos
    and virtual tours of each apartment listing. Make sure to view all the
    features that the apartments have.

  4. Step 4

    VISIT APARTMENTS:
    Now that you have an idea of apartments that interest you from your
    online search, go visit the apartments. The hours of operation should be listed on the apartment’s contact page on the apartment finder website. You could also call to schedule an appointment with the apartment-leasing consultant.

  5. Step 5

    SELECT APARTMENT:
    Once you a have visited a few apartment buildings and found one you
    liked, ask the leasing consultant for an application. Also be sure to
    ask if there are any application fees needed in order to submit your
    rental application. Some apartment buildings will waive the application fee if you apply online on their website.

on 8/22/2009 Also, try using www.nearlots.com, it shows you available apartments on a map, tells you pricing statistics, and even lets you filter your results by commute time.
