A total body detox cleansing is an excellent way to improve overall health. By cleaning out all the cells, tissues and organs, the body is better able to both heal and cleanse itself. Detoxification is a process of removing toxins, poisons, impurities and debris from the body. Sustaining such a process will help in ridding the body of a lot of harmful substances that have accumulated. Many holistic practitioners believe that cleansing the body will remove disease causing substances. There are many ways to detoxify the body and clean it internally.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Try a Fast. Body cleansing takes many forms. By not eating any food the body is free to focus on self-repair and self-cleaning. A fast affects every cell and tissue of the body. Fasting allows the body to use its energy for cleansing the body rather than for digesting food, absorbing nutrients and eliminating wastes. During any fast a person must remain hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Other acceptable liquids are herbal teas, vegetable and fruit juices. A short fast of 1 to 3 days can be done by most people without a doctor's supervision. A 1 week fast is also possible but only under a doctor's care. A fast is not mandatory during the 1 week detox but ii is beneficial to the entire body. This is probably the best way to do a rapid detox.

  2. Step 2

Drink Plenty of Liquids. Each day of the 1 week detox you should drink at least 8 glasses of water for a full body cleanse. Drinking water is another way to detoxify the body. It is an easier method of detoxifying the whole body. And unlike fasting it can and should be done each and every day. This detoxifying the body process helps to wash out any wastes and toxins in the cells and tissues. The body requires a daily intake of fluids to help the body carry out its various processes like creating blood. In addition to water, other useful liquids are fruit juices and vegetable juices which can add much needed nutrients to the body.

  3. Step 3

Eat More Fiber. On the days you are not fasting you should eat a lot of fiber. Fiber is an important part of every diet. It is also important for detoxifying the body. It helps by add volume to the digested food which then creates loose, bulky stools that can easily pass through the intestines and out the anus. Fiber is also an excellent colon cleanser. Fiber brings about frequent bowel movements which are necessary for removing wastes. High fiber foods include whole grain breads and cereals, fruits, nuts and leafy vegetable. This is a natural detox method. Fiber supplements are also able to add fiber to the diet. Eating fruits and vegetables each day of the 1 week detox (when not on a fast) will add necessary nutrients to the body.

  4. Step 4

Eat Organic Foods. Eat only organic foods on the days you eat. Organic foods are a better choice because they contain lower levels of chemicals like preservative and insecticides and so are healthier for the body. Organic foods add the detoxification process because fewer chemicals enter the system.
    Being Physically Active

  5. Step 5

Exercise Each Day. Each day during the 1 week total body detox cleansing you should do some exercise. Exercising during the detox will give you more energy and tone the muscles. Walking every day will help in a few ways. You will burn fat which can reduce the toxins in the body. The fat cells store toxins so by burning fat your body removes many toxins. Any physical activity such as cleaning, yoga, stretching or aerobic exercise helps to keep all the muscles in the body active, including the intestinal muscles. More active colon muscles moves the toxin-filled fecal matter out the body. Exercising is just one more way to detoxify the body on a daily basis.
