Skydive In Chicago

Going skydiving in Chicago is a blast so find out how to skydive Chicago in a few easy steps. You'll be glad you did.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with internet
  • Desire to skydive in Chicago
  1. Step 1

Before finding out where and how to go skydiving in Chicago, make sure you are comfortable with the prospect (and risk) of skydiving. While professional skydiving companies have skydiving down to a scientist, accidents do occasionally occur and you will need to sign your life away before going (literally).

With that said, skydiving in Chicago is an experience of a lifetime for those who are comfortable with doing so.

  2. Step 2

Moving on, the first actual step is to decide which Chicago skydiving location you'd like to go to. No companies actually allow you skydive over downtown Chicago (although I hear the Sears Tower antennae make great skewers).

The two larger Chicago based skydiving companies are Chicago Skydiving Center in Hinckley, IL and Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, IL. Both facilities are Southwest of downtown Chicago to varying degrees.

Based on whether you actually live in Chicago or just nearby, one location may be closer to you.

  3. Step 3

Log on the websites of the various Chicago skydiving companies and compare pricing as well as availability. Days can fill up fast especially in the summer so try to book ahead of time.

  4. Step 4

When comparing the prices, also consider the optional photography and videography packages. These can vary significantly between the different Chicago skydiving companies.

For first-timers, pictures are a great way to remember your wild day. Video is nice also, however it's easier (and cheaper) to quickly look at and share pictures.

  5. Step 5

Finally, the day of your skydive event in Chicago be sure to pack for an outdoors type day. Sun tan lotion and sunglasses and perhaps a hat are recommended, you will be outside for a long time. Don't be surprised to wait a couple hours between arriving and actually taking off.

Pay close attention during the instructions/training. Make sure to enjoy yourself.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to bring a camera of your own. Skydive instructors often will hold this for you and allow you to use it while parachuting down.
  • Ask your instructor about doing the "Superman".
