How to Change U.S. Dollars
If traveling, you may need to change currency before you head off to some foreign land. Changing dollars can be quite simple as long as you know where to look. Banks and currency exchange locations are good places to check, and it's best to also do a little research beforehand to ensure that you get the best deal available.

1
Check a currency converter before going in to change your currency. There are many available online, including some in the Resources section below.

2
Take your money to a large bank, like Bank of America or Wells Fargo, and ask one of the bank tellers to exchange your money. This will give you some money with which to enter the country where you are going. This will be especially helpful if you do need to exchange a large amount of money.

Go to an ATM in the area where you are traveling, if already in the country. Bank ATMs will give you an honest and fair exchange rate. Check to see if your bank has any partnerships with banks abroad. Going exclusively to those ATMs will help save you fees each time you withdraw money.

4
Go to a currency exchange stand in the country if in a bind. Take care when doing this as the exchange rates may not be as fair as those given through the bank.
