Things You'll Need:
- Warm water
- Dishwashing soap
- Plastic bag
- Lemon juice, vinegar or bleach
- Soft-bristle brush (toothbrush)
-
Step 1
Check your Jack LaLanne power juicer operating manual for directions to disassembling your juicer. Each juicer has different directions for disassembly.
-
Step 2
Before juicing, think carefully about placing the juicer in a location that is easy to clean up. There may be splattering and dripping from the juicing process. Place the juicer on a flat, easy-to-clean surface near a sink of warm soapy water. Have a disposal container close by for discarded pulp, seeds, stems and skins. A plastic bag placed in the pulp collector before juicing will collect the pulp and save on cleaning. The pulp may be stored in the bag for future use or carried out to the compost bin. Keep a small cup close to the juicer to catch the drips from the spout following the juicing procedure.
-
Step 3
Immediately after juicing, disassemble the juicer for easy clean up. Use a small spatula to scrape off the excess pulp from the lid and pusher. Drop these items in the wash water to presoak. Use the crescent tool to remove the blade, filter and receptacle. All three items may be picked up as a single unit and moved to the sink to soak. For easy cleaning, do not allow the pulp to dry on the parts of the juicer.
-
Step 4
All of the parts of the Lalanne juicer except the base may be washed by hand or put into the dishwasher for thorough cleaning. The base should be wiped down after each use with a damp cloth and disinfectant. A toothbrush may be used to assist in cleaning the blade and filter especially if you are hand washing.
-
Step 5
Adding a teaspoon of bleach to your soaking water will help remove the stain of carrots and beets on white plastic juicers. Another way to remove the stain is by rubbing a soft cloth with a small amount of lemon juice or white vinegar over the stain.
-
Step 6
Make sure all parts of the juicer are dry before reassembling and storing the juicer.
