Step 1
Color coordinate the clothes in your closet. Put all the clothes of the same color next to each other. You will know exactly what you have and will cut down on buying too much of the same color clothing.
-
Step 2
Face all your hangers in the same direction. After you wear something, when you are hanging it back up, face the hanger in the opposite direction. Doing this will help with the process of cleaning out your closet. You will be able to easily tell which clothes you aren't wearing.
-
Step 3
Keep newer shoes in their boxes, and organize your other shoes in a standing shoe rack or a hanging shoe rack to maximize space. Keeping newer shoes in their boxes is good to do in case you don't wear them often, then they'll be easier to sell on the internet.
-
Step 4
Designate another closet for items that are not clothes or shoes. Blankets, and other storage boxes should be kept separately from your clothing items.
-
Step 5
Clean out your closet every 6 months or so right when the season changes. For example, when it starts getting cold, review what items you haven't worn during the warmer days and get rid of those clothes. You can give them away or sell them on the internet. It is important to keep only the clothes you wear.
