From time to time, the all-in-one HP Officejet G85 printer, which allows you to scan, print, fax and make copies, may get a paper jam that must be cleared. Before you start pulling the paper out of the front of your printer, though, stop and follow some easy steps on how to clear an HP Officejet G85 paper jam so that you are doing it correctly and not damaging the printer in any way.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Off" button on the printer and turn it around so that the back of the printer is facing you. Unplug the power cord from the back of the unit. This will allow the feed rollers to turn more easily as you clear the paper jam.

    • 2

Open the access door on the back of the printer. Turn the handle counter-clockwise to remove the door and pull the door off towards you.

    • 3

Remove the paper that you see in the rollers. Sometimes a piece of paper may be stuck in the front part of the rollers. Look inside the front of the printer and remove the piece that got stuck and could not be reached in the back.

    • 4

Inspect the inside of the printer and remove any paper pieces that may have fallen to the bottom of the printer. Check the rollers to make sure that they are clean. At this time, wipe the rollers with a damp, lint-free cloth if they appear dirty.

    • 5

Replace the cover and plug the power cord back into the back of the printer. Turn the printer on and it will be ready to print again.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep the output tray low to allow paper to feed through the printer easily. If you run copies of 100 sheets, remove the paper throughout the printing cycle so that the paper does not get hung up on already printed papers when trying to come out of the machine.
