In your game manual, you will notice that you can steal bases. Make sure you study the opposing pitcher's pitch selection habits. If you feel that you can predict a change up or a breaking ball, attempt to steal a base on those pitches. You will notice in increase in your stolen base success rate.
It is a good idea to not throw the same pitch more than two or three times in a row. This is especially true in online play, as opposing human players will more than likely be able to catch on to your pitching style if you are consistently repetitive with your pitch selection. Mix in balls with your strike pitches and use pitches with varying speeds back-to-back to fool the batter.
