How to Make Nylon Baby Headbands
Parents love to dress up their little girls, and part of that dressing up is completing the outfit with a cute bow or clip. The easiest way to accessorize your baby if she has no hair (or even if she does) is with a nylon baby headband. These headbands are versatile and can be used with a variety of clips for different outfits or styles. It's also a great way to re-purpose pantyhose and tights you can't use anymore.
Things You'll Need
- Pair of white nylon tights or pantyhose
- 6 inches white 3/4-inch-wide grosgrain ribbon
- White thread
- Needle
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Lighter
- Hot glue gun and glue
Instructions
-
-
1
Lay your tights or pantyhose flat and cut off one leg above the buttocks area. Cut off the foot region of the hose. You will have one long white tube.
-
2
Measure your baby's head and subtract 1 inch from that measurement. Cut the tube to the measurement you have.
-
-
3
Place one end of the tube over the other end, creating a circle with the hose, taking care not to twist the tights.
-
4
Sew the layered ends together tightly, starting at one side and sewing up and down through the material to the other side.
-
5
Pull the thread tight, drawing the ends close together. Wrap the thread around the sewn area three to five times and pull the needle completely through the area again. Tie a knot.
-
6
Burn the ends of the ribbon just enough to keep the threads from fraying.
-
7
Glue one end of the ribbon to the underside of the sewn portion of the hose. Wrap the ribbon around the sewn area and glue the other end to the underside of the hose at the same area.
-
8
Clip a bow or flower made with an alligator clip to the ribbon and slip the headband snugly around your baby's head. Change the clip for different outfits.

Tips & Warnings
Each pair of hose will make at least two headbands, one out of each leg. Depending on the size of your baby's head, you may be able to make four.
