Internships are opportunities for valuable on-the-job training that can turn into long term employment. If college is not for you, consider finding an internship opportunity.

Start networking for a job.
You might not realize it but when you graduate, you have a wealth of valuable networks and contacts at your fingertips. Use this network (teachers, friend's parents, coaches, etc.) to be in the know about job opportunities.

Lower your standards when looking for a first job.
If you just graduated and are looking for a job, your biggest focus should be getting a job anywhere, just for the sake of building up a reference and a work experience. Don't be too picky at first; everyone starts somewhere!
