An inexpensive way to make your own diaper changing station.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Rolling cart with removable wheels.
  • Diaper Changing pad
  • Rectangular piece of cardboard
  • Padding
  • Cotton cloth
  • Staple gun
  1. Step 1

Baby changing tables are handy to have and easy to make. They are a great investment for small business owners who don't have enough money to buy the expensive diaper changing stations but still want to cater to the needs of busy parent customers. They are also great to have in the home. Baby changing tables help you organize and store baby items in a continent way and give you a safe place for you to change your child without all the back breaking ups and downs of traditionally changing a diaper.

  2. Step 2

All it takes is a little creativity and a trip to hobby lobby. Start by finding or buying an old rolling cart like the ones you probably use in the kitchen anyways. Make sure it is large enough and sturdy enough to hold a baby then proceed with the following. Take your cardboard and cut it to fit the top or the table part of the rolling cart. Next put your padding down over the piece of cardboard until you have the desired softness you would like. Third take your cloth and place it over the padding and the cardboard. Fold the ends over the ends and sides of the cardboard and staple the edges with the staple gun. glue the cardboard to the top of the table and place the changing pad over the padded cardboard. Decorate as you like and enjoy changing your baby a little bit easier. For safety reasons I would also recommend removing the wheels from the cart so that it stands firmly and can not move.

  3. Step 3

Use the now cushioned top to change your baby and if their is room below I recommend using one side for diapers and wipes and the other side for disposing of diapers with a trash can or diaper genie. You could also store airfreshner, baby powder or whatever you like since this table can come in handy for much more than just changing diapers. As your child grows it can also be used to sit on when administering medicine, drying off from a bath or brushing their teeth.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you choose to not to glue down the cushioned cardboard you can take the changing pad with you and carry it in your diaper bag or simply just put it below the sink until its time to change baby. This makes a soft and warm spot for your baby to lay and it has the convenience of becoming mobile for you.
  • This particular changing station or changing table does not include directions for enclosing your baby on the changing table with cribbing or some sort of siding so that the pad can be removed if wanted or need be so remember never leave the baby alone on the changing table not even for a second.
