Make any bath feel like a spa experience by making homemade bath salts. Bath salts or Epsom salt can reduce joint and muscle aches and pain through its natural healing properties. Aromatherapy can be used to add to your experience by using scents created by pure essential oils to reduce stress, promote relaxation, trigger the bodies natural healing abilities and creates a sense of well-being. By making your own bath salts for aromatherapy, you can create an environment that promotes natural healing and relaxation.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Glass Jar with a Tightly Sealing Lid
  • Essential Oil or Essential Oil Blend
  • Box of Epsom Salts
  • Glycerin
  1. Step 1

Locate or purchase a glass jar to store your homemade bath salts. Choose one with a tight or vacuum seal so the scents from the essential oils will not fade over time.

  2. Step 2

Select the Essential Oil or Oils you want to use. Or use an Essential Oil Blend if you are unsure what combination or amounts will work best to create a specific scent.

  3. Step 3

Mix 3 to 5 drops of Essential Oils, 3 drops of Food Coloring, and 1 tablespoon of Glycerin in a glass bowl. Increase the amount of Essential Oils used if you desire to increase the intensity of the scent. Add the additional oil one drop at a time to avoid creating an overpowering scent.

  4. Step 4

Pour the mixture created in Step 3 and the box of Epsom salts into the glass jar. Securely close the lid, and shake until the entire mixture is evenly distributed.

  5. Step 5

Add additional Essential Oils or food coloring if desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • Create labels for each type of homemade bath salts you create to identify the aromatherapy scents and properties.
  • Add a decorative touch to the glass jar by tying ribbon around the containers neck.
