Dirty golf balls can have a negative effect on your game, reducing the speed and spin of even the best golf shot. A clean golf ball will fly truer, faster and further than its dirty counterpart.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • Dish Detergent
  • Towels
  • Bucket
  • Brush
  1. Step 1

If you have a bag full of balls to wash the first step is to sort through the balls. There is no point in cleaning damaged golf balls so place an old towel on the ground and empty the balls carefully onto the towel. Pick out any damaged balls and place to one side for disposal. Also pick out any clean balls and set those aside.

  2. Step 2

Fill your bucket full of hot soapy water using a general dish detergent. Now carefully dip the dirty balls into the water and leave them to soak for a few minutes, but not too long because you don't want the water to get cold.

  3. Step 3

After a few minutes pick up your brush--an everyday brush for scrubbing dishes will do. Pick a ball out of the water and--keeping the ball wet--scrub the dirty areas of the ball until it is clean. Clean each ball individually.

  4. Step 4

Place a second, clean towel beside you. Once a ball is scrubbed clean, place a ball on the towel and wipe until it is dry and shiny. As you wipe each ball, examine it again for cuts and damaged areas, as a damaged ball can seriously affect your golf game.

Tips & Warnings
  • Golfers often mark balls with a permanent marker to distinguish it from an opponent's ball. To remove these markings, pour a little nail polish remover on a cotton ball and wipe over the marking three or four times. This should remove any unwanted markings.
