How to Create a Floppy Disk Image
Creating a floppy disk image is essential for Windows users who want to use Virtual PC to run other operating systems or virtual systems. A floppy image is used to boot a computer in the Virtual PC application. To create a floppy image only takes a few steps from within the Microsoft Virtual PC software.

Click the Windows "Start" button and select "All Programs." Choose "Virtual PC" from the menu.

Click the "File" menu at the top of the screen and select "Virtual Disk Wizard." This starts the process to create a floppy disk image.

Click the "Next" button at the summary welcome screen.

Select "Create new floppy or hard disk image" from the choices. Click the "Next" button.

Choose "Create floppy disk image" in the disk type selection window.

Select "Disk image location" and click the "Browse" button. Select a location for the floppy disk image. This can be the local hard drive and just copied to a floppy, or you can create a floppy disk image directly to the drive. Click the "Next" button.

Select "High density (1.44MB)" to use the least compression and create the best performance. Click the "Next" button.

Click "Finish" on the "Floppy Disk Creation Summary" page. After clicking the button, the image is created.
