A SVGA or Super VGA cable is a monitor connection cable used on modern computer systems. SVGA cables come in a variety of lengths and brands. Using a SVGA cable to connect your computer to a monitor is as simple as plugging in the connectors.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Turn off both the computer and monitor if they are on.

  2. Step 2

Unpack the SVGA cable from its packaging. Straighten out the cable to its full length.

  3. Step 3

Connect one end of the cable to the monitor port on your computer. The cable will only go in one way. Tighten each screw on the connector until it is tight.

  4. Step 4

Connect the other end of the cable to the connector on your monitor. Tighten each screw on the connector until it is tight.

  5. Step 5

Turn on the monitor first and then the computer. You should see the computer booting up and the operating system loading. If nothing is displaying, check both connections and make sure the cable is connected to the monitor port on your computer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure the connection on both the computer and monitor is tight.
