Detoxifying the body through the foot is a popular method of cleansing in Chinese medicine. Detox foot patches are employed to remove bodily toxins through the feet when used on a nightly basis. According to the Chinese belief of reflexology, the feet contain reflex points that correspond to various other parts of the body. Stimulating these points may have beneficial results for the rest of the body. Though these methods continue to be popular, the claims have not been thoroughly evaluated by doctors or the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Things You'll Need:

  • Detox foot pads
  1. Step 1

Use a detox pad or patch, also known as a foot patch, to detoxify your body through your feet. Remove the adhesive from the edges of the pad and attach the pad to the soles of your feet before bedtime.

  2. Step 2

Press firmly to make sure the pads stay on. Leave the pads on overnight for about eight hours.

  3. Step 3

Remove the pad by peeling it off. It may be soiled and have taken on a deep brown color because of all the toxins that you sweated out during treatment.

  4. Step 4

Discard the used foot pads. Each pad is for one-time use only.

  5. Step 5

Use a fresh new pad every night for about three to four days. You can stop using the pads when they are no longer black or brown in color. This means that all the toxins have been removed from your body for the time being.
