How to Throw a High School Musical Party

Like Barbie or Hot Wheels, High School Musical is destined to be one of the most popular themes for children's birthday parties for many years to come. If your little one has their heart set on throwing a High School Musical Bash, don't stress. Having a theme for the party will make things easier. Head to the party store or create your own decorations, the choice is yours.

1. Buy or create your own High School Musical party invitations. Having themed invitations will give your guests an idea of what to expect at the party. Party stores offer predesigned invitations or you can easily make your own. Use the colors or mascot of the East High School Wildcat's and the movie's two main references, theater and basketball, while creating your invitations

2. Decorate using High School Musical colors. Use the school colors displayed in the movie for ribbons, streamers and balloons to decorate the party area. Check in stores or online for posters or cardboard cutouts to use as decorations.

3. Buy or make a High School Musical cake. If you can't find a High School Musical cake at your local bakery, bring in a photo cut out from a magazine or from the computer. Many bakeries can print photos onto a cake at an additional charge.

4. Organize High School Musical games. Have a karaoke contest or play a game of musical chairs using the soundtracks from the movie. Be creative with it and play games that are age appropriate for the guests to keep everyone excited and involved.

5. Put together goody bags with High School Musical favors. Look for High School Musical items that can be bought in bulk. Stickers, temporary tattoos, pencils and pencil sharpeners typically come in a multipack.
