Me Slalom Water Skiing!
Me Slalom Water Skiing!

I will explain how to get out of the water and onto a plane with a single slalom water ski. This is how I do it, some people do it differently.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Slalom Water Ski
  • Motorboat
  • Driver and Lookout
  • PWC rated PFD
  • Ski Rope
  1. Step 1

Start in the water with both feet tightly in the slalom water ski.

  2. Step 2

Have the boat get tension on the ski rope, without pulling you forward yet.

  3. Step 3

Place the triangle of the ski rope over the front of your ski and hold onto it just above your front foot on the ski.

  4. Step 4

Push your rear foot down to keep the ski closer to you as you start to move in the water. Keep your front knee bent so that you can reach the rope and hold it over your ski. At this point yell to the boat you are ready and they will take off pulling you through the water.

  5. Step 5

Quickly, as you start to lift out of the water a bit, lift the handle and rope over the top of the ski, removing the ski from the triangle made by the handle and tow rope.

  6. Step 6

Continue to hold tension as you plane out and the boat gains speed.

  7. Step 7

Now you are up, enjoy the ride and be safe!

Tips & Warnings
  • Always wear the appropriate PFD.
  • Always have a spotter on the boat.
  • Always navigate through safe water that is deep enough, with no rocks or obstructions!
