Instructions

    • 1

After washing and drying your sheets to remove any finishing chemicals from the manufacturer, lay a sheet down and smooth it out.

    • 2

Prepare your dyes if they need to be mixed and pour the dye into squirt bottles. While you do not have to use squirt bottles, it helps to create patterns and is less messy.

    • 3

Choose your dye colors. Pinks and purples look great in a girls room, while green and blue or brown are great for boys. Or go all out with all of the colors for bright and traditional tie dyed sheets.

    • 4

Decide what tie dye pattern you would like. The most common tie dye pattern is the spiral and it is very pretty. Other patterns include crinkles, circles, lines, and hearts.

    • 5

To create a spiral, start twisting the center of the sheet around until you have completely twisted the entire sheet into a large spiral. Hold it this position with a rubber band or a string.

    • 6

Next take your first dye color and squirt a line 1-2 inches wide following the spiral. Repeat with as many colors as you wish, making sure you do not color over any other colors.

    • 7

Once you have fully dyed your sheets, let them dry for at least 24 hours. Because sheets are very large, it may take 3 days for your sheets to fully dry.

    • 8

Once the dye has dried, wash your sheets in cold water to remove any excess dye, and then wash in hot water. If your sheets are still bleeding dye, put them through a rinse cycle before drying.
