Think light cottons and comfortable, flowing clothes. Your body should be protected from the sun, but cool enough to avoid heat exhaustion.

From Quick Guide: Pack Your Bags
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Pack one pair of shorts, several T-shirts or tank tops, and a swimsuit.

  2. Step 2

Pack one lightweight, long skirt when traveling abroad, if you're a woman.

  3. Step 3

Take a hat to protect your head and face from the sun. You may want to wear the hat while traveling to avoid crushing it in your suitcase.

  4. Step 4

Take one long-sleeved shirt or sweater. Keep in mind that hot days can turn into cool evenings.

  5. Step 5

Remember bug repellent, since most warm climates have their fair share of insects.

  6. Step 6

Pack sunscreen, lip balm and sunglasses.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to care for your feet. A good pair of sandals and antifungal foot powder will keep your feet cool and comfortable in hot weather.
  • Beware of the sun. If you see small white blisters after a day in the sun, seek medical attention immediately.
  • Drink lots of water to avoid heat exhaustion.

on 11/22/2005 In the tropics the weather is humid - cotton and denim do not dry quickly. Take lightweight nylon/supplex hiking pants that zip off to make shorts. The pants come in an array of colors. They're comfortabe, cool, dry quickly and look great.
