Homemade pasta is very easy to make and tastes superior to any dried product.

Homemade pasta tastes better than any dried pasta product. If you have a stand mixer, pasta dough is extremely easy to make. Hand mixers work if you have a dough attachment. Fresh pasta cooks quickly, but needs 30 minutes to rest before cutting into strips or running through a pasta machine. After shaping the pasta into your required form, such as egg noodles or fettuccine, it takes only two to five minutes to cook. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Read your favorite pasta dough recipe. Verify that you have the required ingredients and quantities of the ingredients.

    • 2

Measure the flour and pour it into the bowl and add the salt. Combine the flour and salt with the spoon. Use the same spoon to create a crater in the flour.

    • 3

Break one egg into the small bowl. Avoid getting egg shell into the egg by rapping the shell against the flat surface of your counter. Hold the egg over the bowl and pull the egg apart using your thumbs. Release the egg white and yolk into the bowl. Throw the shells into your compost or trash bin. Repeat until you have the correct quantity of eggs as stated in the recipe.

    • 4

Inspect the egg to make sure there are no shell pieces. Remove any shell if you see small particles. Use a fork to gently beat the eggs, and then pour it into the crater in the flour mixture.

    • 5

Add the olive oil, if the recipe calls for oil. If not, proceed to step 6. Use the fork to gently mix the oil into the egg mixture.

    • 6

Fit your hand or stand mixer with the dough hook. Place the mixing bowl in the stand mixer. Plug in the mixer and turn the mixer on to the lowest speed setting.

    • 7

Mix the flour and egg mixture until the dough forms a stiff ball. If the mixture seems sticky, add additional flour one spoonful at a time until you have a stiff dough that doesn't stick to your fingers. Once the dough is smooth and not sticky, mix on the second slowest speed for three to five minutes. Remove from the bowl and let rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Semolina flour produces high-quality pasta dough.

  • Replace some egg or oil with pureed frozen spinach to make spinach pasta.

  • If the dough becomes too dry, add 1/2 tsp of olive oil at a time to achieve the desired consistency.
