Things You'll Need:
- desire to tan
- eye goggles
- tanning bed lotion
-
Step 1
A safe tan is easy to get. Find the spa you want to go to or buy a tanning bed. At a spa someone will be around in case you need any help. If you decide to buy most tanning beds that are new start from $1,000. Buy from a credited company.
-
Step 2
Wear protective goggles on your eyes. The tanning bed light is too strong for your eyes to be exposed. It can affect your vision if they are not worn.
-
Step 3
Tanning lotion helps your skin to tan because it supplies moisture. A moist skin tans better. Bronzer that colors the skin is usually added in the lotion. The tanning lotion helps produce melanin, an amino acid that helps the body produce the tan color.
-
Step 4
The max exposure to tanning in the bed should be no more than 20 min. Tanning beds work fast. If you are a beginner it should be less and then build up gradually to more time in the tanning bed. To keep up your tan go at least once a week.

on 8/5/2009 I tan and you are right on. One thing to add...good idea to clean the bed before using to get rid of bacteria that may be growing due to hea(especially if you go to an establishment to tan) 5*s
