Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Xbox 360 console
  • Controller
  • Computer
  • Internet access
  • Xbox Live account with premium membership.

    Creating a game

  1. Step 1

Log onto creators.xna.com. Once on the website, click "Step 1: Create" on the top left for instructions, or continue to follow along here.

  2. Step 2

Join the XNA Creators Club and download XNA Game Studio.

  3. Step 3

Start creating your game. Select the "XNA Game Studio" folder from your "Start" menu. Select either the "Visual Studio 2008" or the "Visual C# 2008 Express Edition" item from the menu. Once XNA Game Studio starts, click the "File" menu, and then click "New Project." Select the "XNA Game Studio" option underneath the Visual C# node. You'll then see a selection of projects you can create.

  4. Step 4

If you do not already have a Premium Xbox Live Membership, use your Xbox 360 to sign up. To find plans, take a look at creators.xna.com/en-US/membership.

  5. Step 5

Now you need to transfer your created game to your Xbox. Sign into your gamertag and go to "Games Marketplace." Select "Browse" then "All games," and finally "XNA Creators Club." Select and download "XNA Game Studio Connect." When the download finishes, navigate to the "My Xbox" channel. Select "Game Library," then "Community Games," and then "XNA Game Studio Connect." See creators.xna.com/en-US/create_detail#tour_one for further details.
