How to Fix Yahoo Runtime Error 999

For those Internet users who subscribe to a Yahoo! service, whether it be Yahoo! Mail, Messenger, groups, news or any other feature, they may at some point experience runtime error 999. This error occurs when you try to open up any of the services and you're greeted with the error message along with a statement that the service cannot be accessed at the time and to please try again later. Luckily, there are a few ways to try and correct this issue.

Instructions

1. Open up your Internet browser and clear out the cookies and cache files. This can be done by clicking "Tools" and then "Clear Private Data" in FireFox. Click "Tools" and "Temperary Internet Files" in Internet Explorer, and in Safari, click "Safari," select "Preferences" and then "Internet Cookies."

2. Turn off your Proxy Server if you are connected to one. A proxy server is a system that goes between the clients and the user. If you are not part of a Proxy Server, skip this step.

3. Download a different browser. This will correct the issue most of the time, especially if the other two steps have not corrected it yet. You can download FireFox, Internet Explorer and Safari through the Resources section.

4. Launch the new browser and try to connect back to the desired Yahoo! service. It should load without any issues
