Things You'll Need:
- Microsoft Office (includes PowerPoint)
-
Step 1
Open Microsoft PowerPoint. Click the "Start" menu on your computer, select "All Programs," and look for "Microsoft Office." When you hold your mouse over Microsoft Office, it will give you a list of programs. Click "Microsoft PowerPoint."
-
Step 2
The title slide should be the first slide to appear on the screen. If it is not, click "New Slide" at the top of the screen, or go to the "File" menu and select "New Slide," if you have a version of PowerPoint that is older than 2007.
-
Step 3
Choose "Title Slide" from the menu. You have several other options you can select from as well, such as "Title Only" or "Title and Content." The last option allows you to add the title as well as text or a picture.
-
Step 4
Click the title slide of your choice, and it will open on the screen. Click the text box on the slide labeled "Click to add title" and type in the title of your presentation. There will be a section at the top of the screen labeled "Font" that allows you to change the font, size, and color of your text.
-
Step 5
If you chose the title slide that also includes content, click one of the symbols in the middle of the slide to select the type of content you want to add. Hold your mouse over the symbol and it will tell you what it stands for.
-
Step 6
Once you click a symbol, such as the symbol of a table, which says "Insert Table" when you hold your mouse over it, a menu will open. It will ask you for more information about the content you are creating, and it will walk you through the process of creating it.
-
Step 7
Choose the settings you want from this menu. For example, clicking the "Insert Table" symbol opens a menu that asks how many columns and rows you want. Type in the number of columns and number of rows you need for your table. Click "OK," and the table will be added to your slide.
-
Step 8
Drag items on your slide to the correct locations. Do this by clicking the edge of the text box, table or other type of image on your slide. Move the text and pictures around on your slide if you do not like the order they are in. When you are finished and your title slide is final, save your slide by clicking "File" at the top of the screen and selecting "Save As."
