How To Make Fragrance
Developing your own fragrances can not only be a fun project, but a great way to craft your own signature scent. If you're just starting to experiment with fragrance a great first step is creating your own oil perfume. While traditional, alcohol-based perfumes require a multitude of ingredients a great oil-based fragrance can have just two. Plus, oil fragrances don't evaporate as readily as their alcohol-based counterparts and some people prefer them for their longevity and ability to mask as well as enhance natural odors. How to Make Fragrance
-
1
Pour the olive oil (any oil will do if you cannot find olive oil, or find it too pricey) into the dark glass bottle with a funnel. Be sure you leave more than enough room for the stopper to close without touching the oil.
-
2
Choose the concentrated, scented oils that you would like to add. You can find these oils at your local health food store. Choose one, or combine oils to create your own signature scent.
-
-
3
Load the dropper. Depress the rubber stopper of your dropper, dip it into the concentrated scented oil, and then release the stopper. If you are using more than one scented oil, use a different dropper for each.
-
4
Drop the scented oil into the olive oil one drop at a time.
If you are just using one concentrated scent oil, start with one drop of the scent, let the bottle sit for three hours (out of the sunlight) and then smell it to see if you have the concentration you desire. If not, add another drop, wait another three hours and sniff again. Repeat this process until you reach your desired scent.
If you are experimenting with scent combinations, start with one drop of each scent, let the bottle sit for three hours and then smell the scent. Continue to modify the scent as desired by adding drops, but be sure to wait three hours between each alteration to properly ascertain your results.
For example, a popular recipe called Arabian Dusk begins with:
1 Drop Coriander Oil
1 Drop Frankincense Oil
1 Drop Juniper Oil
2 Drops Orange OilDepending on your preference, you may change the ratio of the scents or the amount used of each. However, you should start with the above ratio, let it sit for three hours and then add scent to your taste as instructed above.

5
When you find your desired scent, store the stoppered bottle of oil in a dark place for three days to allow the oil to mature.
-
6
To use, dab the oil on your pulse points with your finger.
