Arimidex is a hormonal treatment medication commonly prescribed to postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. Eight years of clinical data has proven that it is an effective treatment for breast cancer as it reduces the amount of estrogen in the body. Side effects of the medication include hot flashes, mood changes, pain, nausea and vomiting, sore throat, high blood pressure and depression. The most frequent complaint is weakness in the joints and muscles.

If you begin to see side effects from the Arimidex after you begin treatment, it is important to speak with your doctor immediately. Discuss dosing and other medications that may relieve the effects of the Arimidex.

To reduce nausea and vomiting, keep foods on hand that are commonly used for upset stomachs. Plain crackers and broth will give you nutrients but should not cause stomach irritation.
