Censoring pictures is a way publishers can display images that may be offensive to viewers. There are a few ways to censor pictures. One of the most common is to distort the controversial part of a picture, like in the picture in this article. This effect can be easily rendered in Adobe Photoshop, or any other graphics program. For this article, I'm going to reference Photoshop...

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Photoshop
  1. Step 1

(Open picture in Photoshop.) The first step in censoring pictures is to open them in Photoshop. Simple enough.

  2. Step 2

(Create a new layer.) Next, you'll need to create a New Layer. The Photoshop shortcut for this is Shift+Ctrl+N. Name it "Censor."

  3. Step 3

(Select area to be censored.) Now choose the Marque Select tool. Click and drag over the area that you want to be censored.

  4. Step 4

(Apply the Pixelate effect.) Go to Filter, and then to Pixelate, and then Mozaic. Play with the Cell Size until it suits you, and you're done.
