If you plan to do your reading on the Internet, just be sure you're not exposing yourself to poor spelling or grammar. Stick to professionally written articles or stories. Steer clear of blogs. Reading isn't skimming. If you are going to improve your language skills, it's important that you actually read the words.

2. Look it up. If you are unsure about the spelling of a word, look it up. You may want to carry a pocket dictionary with you or if you have Internet access you can use an online spelling site. One of the most common spelling mistakes is using a word that sounds right, but has a different spelling and meaning. These words are called homonyms. Most dictionaries contain lists of homonyms, but you can also check this online. If you are unsure about how to punctuate a sentence or about a rule of grammar, look it up.
