  1. Step 1

Make travel reservations or enlist the help of a travel agency approximately 1 month ahead of time. If you're traveling outside the United States, passports, visas, travel insurance, and international drivers license should be in order. Passports usually take 10 to 14 days to process. If your destination requires you to have a visa , apply at the country's consulate immediately after you receive your passport. Get all required vaccinations including tetanus and hepatitis shots, if necessary.

  2. Step 2

Get your attire, electronic devices, and wardrobe together at least 12 days ahead of time. Luggage should be checked for dependability and remember to pack folding bags to bring back gifts and souvenirs.

  3. Step 3

Gather all the prescription and traveling medications that you will need, including an extra pair of eyeglasses incase you lose a pair. Toiletries such as shaving blades, lotions, soap, deodorant, etc. should be packed in a smaller, more accessible bag and packed inside your luggage.

  4. Step 4

Secure your home and pets by making a schedule for a neighbor or family member to stop by regularly.

  5. Step 5

Make your own reservations. There are multiple websites that make it convenient for you to plan trips, flights, car rentals, hotel or resort stays, etc. The earlier you make your reservations the better your deals and discounts will be. Confirm your reservations approximately two weeks ahead of time and keep a record of all confirmation and contact numbers close-by for emergency purposes. Happy Traveling!
