Make a beautiful necklace out of souvenirs from the shore. Preserve your memories in a unique design that's easy to make and fun to wear.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • small white or blue half-shells
  • leather cord
  • hand drill
  • necklace clasp
  • mini freshwater oyster shells (optional)
  1. Step 1

Drill a small hole (around 1/4 inch or smaller) through each of your shells. Use three or five medium-sized ones to make a choker or more to make a longer or looped choker necklace.

  2. Step 2

Cut a length of leather corn and tie a knot in the center. Pull both ends through the shell, making sure the knot is big enough and tight enough not to pass through the hole.

  3. Step 3

Slide a shell on either side, at even distances from your center shell. Tie a knot just behind each one and pass the ends through the hole, making sure to secure the knots against slipping through the holes.

  4. Step 4

Once all your shells have been added, trim the cord to the desired length and add a jewelry clasp to each end.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use small half-shells with mother-of-pearl interiors, like freshwater oyster shells, to knot in between your main shells for additional ornaments (especially if you're only using three large shells).
  • Other great ornaments include spiral shells, craft starfish, or coral-colored beads.
