1
Find a great fitting pair of jeans! If you love the style and can't bear to part with them, make sure you buy another pair for use as long jeans.
-
2
Decide how short you want the shorts. Put on the jeans and mark where you'd like to cut them with a pen or marker.
-
-
3
Take off the jeans. Using a flexible measuring tape, measure from the inseam (crotch of the jeans) to the mark you made. Note the measurement.
-
4
Once you have the measurement. Lie the pants flat on a hard surface. When you fold them, fold as if you were creating a crease in the front.
-
5
Look for the mark you initially and use the measuring tape to make sure that the length is what you want. Now take a yardstick, hold against the jeans and make a long line with a marker according to your notations. Cut the pant leg.
-
6
Turn the jeans to the other side and repeat step 5.
-
7
Try the jeans on to make sure they are they way you like them.
-
8
Place the jeans in the washing machine, then dry in the dryer for a cool frayed look.

Tips & Warnings
If you do not want fraying, cut your jeans at least an inch longer than desired to have enough fabric to sew a hem.
Many people the will fold jeans from left to right to cut and that creates an uneven line.
