This may be helpful to those looking to teach English overseas.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Items needed in a cover letter to teach English include the date, contact information, reasons you are seeking employment with the company, reasons you are a good candidate, and an itemized list of documents sent. I personally think that including possible interview times is a good idea. If times are listed in the document, make sure to say what time zone you are referring to. The following step shows a sample cover letter.

  2. Step 2

    Adventure Teaching Inc.

    South Korea, 463-805

    Dear Adventure Teaching Inc.,

I am writing your company because I am seeking a position in South Korea as an English teacher. I would be delighted to begin the interview process, and I can be reached using the contact information at the top of the page.

I have many qualities that Adventure Teaching needs in employees. I am open-minded, adventurous, hard-working, adaptable, and trustworthy. All of my international experiences noted in my application have left lasting impressions on my outlook on life. I would love to teach abroad because understanding different cultures gives me a strong sense of accomplishment. I am contacting Adventure Teaching because I was recommended to you by a previous employee named Brandon Johnson. In addition to the documents requested, I have attached the following in an email:

    1) Letter of recommendation from Dr. Thomas Holubik

    2) Letter of recommendation from Keith Brown

    3) Marketing research group project

I look forward to continuing the screening process with Adventure Teaching. Here are times for a phone interview that work well for me. Please keep in mind I am willing to work around your busy schedules (Please note that all times are in Central Time Zone CDT).

    Monday: any time between 11: 30 AM-1: 30 PM
Tuesday: any time after 2 PM
    Wednesday: any time between 11: 30 AM-1: 30 PM
Thursday: any time after 2 PM
Friday: any time 11: 30 AM and after

    Sincerely,

    Your Name

  3. Step 3

If you are wanting to teach English abroad, more than likely you enjoy traveling. One way to explain your interest in traveling is to say that learning a new culture gives you a strong sense of accomplishment. Another way is to talk about a possible future with the military. A cover letter should be professionally written and not contain any slang. If the document is being mailed, make sure to sign the letter at the bottom. The company's address and contact information should be written above the "Dear [blank company]."
