Using the scissors, carefully cut open the vacuum filter 1/2 to 2/3 of the way open, as shown in the picture.

  3. Step 3

Empty the vacuum bag into the garbage can. Be careful, it can get messy. Wear gloves if you don't want your hands dirty. If any debris gets stuck, it can be removed with kitchen tongs.

  4. Step 4
    Sealing filter bag

Cut a piece of duct tape 1 inch larger than the hole you cut in the vacuum filter. Carefully seal up the hole with the duct tape, making sure there are no gaps or leaks. Press firmly to get good adhesion.

  5. Step 5

Replace the vacuum filter into the vacuum. Your vacuum is now ready to use.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the filter only has dirt, pet hair etc., in it, you can empty it into your compost pile.
  • Never work on a vacuum cleaner that is plugged in.
  • Do not cut and reuse a filter bag more than twice.
  • Reusing HEPA filter bags will compromise their efficiency.
