Things You'll Need:
- social security card
- proof of address
- parents signature if under 18
- current class c drivers license
-
Step 1
ELIGIBILITY
Unfortunately, you know your freedom on this one is a bit limited. Legally, you have to have another motorcyclist who is at least 21 years old and has a current legal motorcycle license riding along side you on another motorcycle within easy visual distance the whole time. Similar to when you are learning to drive a car. -
Step 2
You have to be at least 16 years old and already have a class c drivers license in Oregon.
-
Step 3
You cannot have had your license suspended, or taken away for any legal reason.
-
Step 4
APPLICATION
Download a drivers license application or go to your nearest DMV and get a drivers license ID application. While filling it out, bear in mind that if any of your health-related questions are marked with a yes, you cannot get a motorcycle instruction permit. That is unless your medical condition does not affect your ability to drive in a safe way. -
Step 5
Be aware the DMV may require you to pass a test to prove any medical questions you marked will not affect your driving ability. This applies to vision, etc.
-
Step 6
Bring in proof of your identity. Birth records (birth certificate), social security card, proof of address (mail with your name on it-a school report card, for example), and your parents signature unless you are an emancipated minor.
The cost for a motorcycle permit is $22.50 and is good for one year.
