How to Make Fabric Art

Jazz up a room by decorating a wall using fabric art. Get different fabrics in complementing patterns or colors to create a montage on your wall. The contrast will create an eye-catching image that people will comment on.

Things You'll Need

• Blank canvas
• Fabric (large enough to cover canvas)
• Stapler
• Picture hanging kit

Instructions

1. Choose fabric that will complement the space; it can be colorful or patterned. Get enough fabric to cover the canvas with.

2. Lay fabric on a hard surface with bright side down. Check that the patterns are straight. Place the canvas down on top with wood side up.

3. Wrap the edges of the fabric over the edge of the canvas and staple to the wood. Check that your fabric is straight with no creasing or bubbles before you go on to the next edge. Continue until done.

4. Hang the frame to a wall using picture framing hardware.

Tips & Warnings

• Make your new art stand out by covering the fabric with a clear paint gloss, which protects the fabric and also gives it a shine.

• Be careful when stapling to the canvas.
