Step 1
Locate an Authorized Vacu-Maid central vacuum dealer in your local market or online. This can be tricky. Unscrupulous companies often try to pass themselves off as Vacu-Maid dealers. To be safe, for local companies check out the Vacu-Maid dealer locator at http://vacu-maid.com. Internet companies are a little more difficult to verify, so call Vacu-Maid at 1-800-546-3729 to make sure you are getting genuine Vacu-Maid parts.

Step 2
If you are ordering online be sure to take stock of your accessories and determine what you need. In most companies larger online orders usually include free shipping. Check your hose for signs of wear indicating it might be time for a new one.
-
Step 3
Check the bristles on your accessory set, including the powerhead, dusting brush, barefloor brush, and upholstery tool, if they are worn consider upgrading to one of Vacu-Maid's newer accessory sets.
-
Step 4
Check your Vacu-Maid lint screen. Remove any loose dirt on it. If you have a lint screen cover that is worn consider purchasing a new one. If you do not have a lint screen cover it is optional, but it will make cleaning off the filter simpler.

Step 5
Consider replacing your powerbrush with an updated model. Powerbrushes have changed considerably over the years and you may find your cleaning improved with a new one.
