The Husqvarna 359 chainsaw is equipped with a mechanism called "Smart Start" that allows for quick starting that doesn't involve yanking a crank cord over and over to try to get the chainsaw to work. Also, in order to start the machine, all the safety devices have to be in place, which ensures that you're not injured in the process of starting the chainsaw and that small children can't be harmed while playing with the machine.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Ensure that all the blade covers and safety features are in place before attempting to start the chainsaw.

  2. Step 2

Push the front hand guard forward (toward the blade) to engage the chain brake.

  3. Step 3

Set the choke control to the choke position.

  4. Step 4

Press the decompression valve to allow the chainsaw to start easier.

  5. Step 5

Put the chainsaw on the ground and put a foot through the rear handle and one hand on the handle on top of the chainsaw.

  6. Step 6

Pull the starter cord with your right hand to start the engine and allow the cord to retract slowly into the chainsaw.

  7. Step 7

Release the throttle latch on the rear handle by pressing it with your index finger. This will allow the chainsaw to idle so you don't damage the clutch assembly by running the machine at a high speed.

  8. Step 8

Pull the chain guard back toward the handle on the top of the chainsaw and the chainsaw will be ready to use.
