How to Hire a Camper Van

Drivers must be at least 21 to rent or hire a camper van. In addition to requiring a deposit, ranging from $500 to $5,000, renting a camper requires the driver to agree to perform basic maintenance while the vehicle is in use and pick up as well as return the camper van according to a specific schedule.

      Go to the Real Adventures Web site for motor home, RV and camper van rentals. With daily rentals, consumers can view photos and check availability online. Product details, including reviews and interactive maps, also are available online. With more than 200 rental locations in North America, consumers have a number of options.

      Check an RV camping club, such as RV Clubs, which provide a state-by-state listing of RV, camper and motor home rental agencies. The club is not a rental company but provides a source for finding rental listings. Additional discounts also are available for camper van accessories.

      Compare prices. For example, determine whether a weekly or monthly rate is available and whether seasonal discounts apply. Contact each company and find out the required rental deposit, rental rate and other conditions that apply. Take all rental and payment requirements into consideration.

While requirements will vary, most motor home rental companies require a valid driver's license, which cannot expire during the rental period; proof of insurance and the policy number; and a major credit card.
